Do you love motorcycles? Do you love Dogs? Wouldn’t it be great to take your dog on your adventures with you?
I have found the solution, Stay tuned!
I had been trying to figure out how to bring my 50lb Stafford Terrier on my trips, can’t leave you buddy at home and miss out on all the fun.
I looked at side cars, but they are really expensive, not quick to mount and un-mount from a motorcycle and change the way the bike handles. In fact in Virginia you need a special license for side cars and three wheels trikes and M3.
I looked at pull behind trailers and did a lot of research, and discovered trailers that mount though the rear axle and not to the frame or have a hitch are the safest and allow the bike to handle naturally.
I want to introduce you to the Pillion Pooch.

- They also recommend getting some Rex Specs googles for your dog and using the Kurgo Enhanced Strength Thy-Fit dog harness (Links below).
- Cost with shipping to West coast from the UK $969 before cost of mounting hardware 4 U-bolts.
- Let get to unboxing.
-Sherpax dual-sport trailer by Kip Moto at kipmoto.com
Trailers $995, hit kit Starting at $15, but don’t currently make a mount for a BMS 1200GS. Then you have to buy a dog crate that fits into the frame and strap it down.
-Problem is I couldn’t figure how to get dog in and out of crate easily without unstrapping it from the frame and they did make kits for my motorcycle.
-Total cost $1010 before shipping and dog crate
-Trail Tail at trailtail.com Frame $1,350, Fiberglass trunk $950 with astro lid $480, skid plate $140, mounting kit $380: Total before shipping $3,300
-The coolest one I found was a concept by SPIN at spincargo.com, but they don’t have prices and are still in the kick starter phase.
The reasons I didn’t choose a pull behind is the cost, compatibility with the best selling adventure motorcycle the BMW 1200GS and the biggest reason was it worried me that something could happen, like the dog fall off ect behind me without me knowing and constantly checking my mirrors that would have to be adjusted to look behind me and not the traffic lanes to the sides.
